Over the past seventy-one years it has become one of the most successful and versatile military transport aircraft ever produced. More than 2,500 C-130 aircraft have been built and delivered to over sixty countries worldwide, and today the Hercules is operated by more than seventy nations in more than seventy different variants.
The C-130 Technical Coordination Group (TCG) was established in 1987 to provide a direct line of operational, logistical, and technical support to international operators of the C-130 Hercules aircraft through the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) program. Today, the C-130 TCG supports thirty-two international partner nations. Collectively, these countries operate more than 400 C-130 aircraft, including the B, E, H, J, and L-100 models. International operators account for more than seventy percent of the global C-130 fleet.
The original sixteen member nations in 1987 were Brazil, Chile, Egypt, Greece, Israel, Japan, Pakistan, the Philippines, Portugal, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Taiwan, Thailand, and Türkiye. Today, the organization has expanded to include thirty-two partner countries: Argentina, Australia, Austria, Botswana, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Egypt, France, Germany, Greece, Indonesia, Israel, Japan, Jordan, Morocco, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Oman, the Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Tunisia, and Türkiye.
The C-130 TCG continues to expand as fleets retire aircraft that are later acquired by new international operators. While membership levels have evolved over the years, one constant has remained: dedicated service to partner nations. Support provided by the TCG ranges from simple assistance, such as identifying aircraft part numbers, to complex engineering efforts including the design of country-specific structural or avionics modifications. The staff of the C-130 TCG leverages decades of expertise along with access to extensive reliability, maintainability, and operational data from across the worldwide Hercules fleet.
As of 2026, the C-130 TCG has been operational for thirty-nine years. Since its inception in 1987, the organization has conducted thirty-five World Wide Reviews that bring together international operators to share operational experience, engineering knowledge, and fleet sustainment strategies. Only three World Wide Reviews were not held (1987, 2013, and 2020). The 36th World Wide Review is scheduled to take place in October 2026. Please visit our World Wide Review page for additional details regarding dates, location, and registration information.
